One Hour DIY: Valentine's Vases

One Hour DIY is another feature I'm excited to introduce. I believe that creating breads creativity, but sometimes I just don't have the time to tackle one of the many big projects on my to-do list. In these cases I like to just gather up some supplies I have sitting around and throw together something small.

This week I was starting to feel festive and wanted to make some Valentine's decorations. I've been hoarding jars and cans, and a few weeks ago I happened upon some perfect Valentine's fabric. I pulled out a few other scraps I had and whipped up these adorable vases in just 57.5 minutes! Yes, I timed it.

Here's one of the final products, and I'm absolutely in love with how it turned out.

First, gather your supplies. I started with a pasta sauce jar, two soup cans, and three different fabrics. Before I started assembling the pieces I realized that I would need to add a layer of felt to the cans so that the finished product would be smooth. Feel free to switch up the containers you use if you're looking for different sizes or shapes. I tried a few different glues, and hot glue is by far the most effective. So make sure to fire up that glue gun before you get started.

1. Cut your felt and fabric to the size of the cans, and glue them together.

2. Glue them to the can. I cut mine a little too short to wrap all the way around. To fix it I used a strip of a different fabric to cover the seam. Make sure to fill the gap with a generous portion of glue so that the seam lays flat.

3. Cut a few hearts out of the same fabric used for the seam and glue them on. I used three and centered them on the can.

4. Repeat as many times as you want and make a whole set of vases for all the flowers that your special someone is sure to give you!

Have you whipped up any quick Valentine's crafts? I'd love to hear about them!
